In spite of its growing popularity as a spot for tropical beach holidays, the island of Phuket continues having some of the cheapest 5-star resort prices in the world. Out of over 1,000 resorts and hotels on the island, around 60 of them claim to be five stars at least on one of the major hotel scales. This competition means that room rates can be very reasonable, at least in the off season months.
Whether you want to stay directly on the beach, or in a luxurious and spacious compound in a quiet area away from the crowds, there are many 5-star options in Phuket. During the high season (December through March) room rates will of course be higher, but you can still get great value compared to many other resort areas.
All 5-star resorts are not the same, obviously
It’s very important to note up top that just because a resort calls itself “5 stars” doesn’t mean it could be part of the Four Seasons chain and is the ultimate in luxury. But on Phuket you can count on any “5-star” hotel to have all the main services and amenities you’d expect, and have at least some level of “luxury” to it.
Some 5-star Phuket resorts start under US$100 per night, and other start at over US$600 per night. There will be a huge difference between them, but that doesn’t mean the cheap ones are bad. In fact, we don’t even list resorts that get frequent comments that say they aren’t really five stars. Read about the features and amenities carefully, and read the reviews before you book. Phuket has fantastic deals for those who look carefully.
